date weekend

they finally arrived and my heart has been filled...

paula and the kids arrived mid-august (shoubert, one week later) and they just left today! boo.

for august i was trying to come up with something really creative (yet cheap) and while the days kept passing by i was honestly getting stressed about not having something to do.  knowing that the kids were coming, i was also trying to think of fun things i could do with the kids, so i decided to put the two together! :)

so, for luca - we had a little play time with the "kitty cats" and then a sleepover on friday night (his first EVER - i feel honoured!) and then in the morning we went to Springridge Farm in Milton.. his favourite thing was driving the tractor around and around and around and around the 5 bails of hay, he would've done it all day long because in his words "this is FANTASTIC!!" we saw some animals, went through the maze, down the slides, even a wagon ride, but by far, him driving the tractor was the best part! We had lunch at pizza pizza and then i dropped him off at my parents for his nap.  we had so much fun!!  and apparently next time - i've been told - we need to sleep in sleeping bags, because THAT'S what a sleepover really is.. haha!

"milking" a cow

a bumpy slide, but he loved it!

he's my little buddy!

when i dropped luca off i picked sophie up and we made our way to crock-a-doodle in oakville. she got to pick what she wanted to paint and picked all her colours. she painted it (almost) all by herself and we both thought that it looked pretty awesome - even before the glaze!

when we finished painting, we decided to have Wendy's for dinner and even treated ourselves to a frosty! while we were eating our frosty's, sophie noticed a park across the street so we headed over there to play for a bit when we were done. when we got home sophie also had to play with the cats - where she declared that benji was, after all, her favourite. she too, had a sleepover and i'm proud to say that we even made it to church on time!!
mmm, wendy's

she may be my "mini-me" but i love watching her become her own person, a little lady! she has such a fun personality and is super creative... you don't need all the gadgets and gizmos to have a good time - use your imagination and you may come up with something better and just MAYBE have more fun!

my favourite memory with sophie would have to be painting together and watching her come up with games (and rules) to play with luca in my parents basement.  with luca, i will remember our play date together and being asked every night after reading stories with him if i was going to be there in the morning... i was never there in the morning, but i always "surprised him" when i showed up after work!! oh, and from now on i will be singing 'twinkle twinkle little star' jazz style!

i really wasn't looking forward to this month being over because it meant that they would all be leaving, but september is going to be a busy month... and there's only 21 days until it's my birthday and my grand finale! YIKES!!
