tying up my laces

ready for my first run

to be honest i've been nervous about this month since i signed up last month... signed up for what, you ask? well, i signed up for the 10K running clinic at the Running Room to help me prep for my "big finish" of my 30th year challenge in September and last tuesday was my first run with the group.  i'm officially one of those people you see standing at the corner of Winston Churchill & Argentia waiting for the light to change!

the clinic is on tuesday nights where we have a mini-lecture and then go for a run.  wednesdays & sundays are "free runs" which are open for anyone, but they also help with your progression in whatever goal you've set for yourself - these are a great way to get more runs in too and i've got to say that running with a group is sooo motivating!! i tend to be at the back of the pack but they give me something to strive toward and when we all finish there are high fives all around for a good run completed!!

an exciting thing happened though - other than the fact that i completed my first week of running 10:1 (i have never done this before!) - on my first "free run" on wednesday, there was a Nike rep at the store who had shoes for anyone to try on or run in, that night and if you did try them on, your name was entered into a draw for a free pair of shoes and..... I WON!!! i got to pick any Nike shoe and have them shipped to my house - how awesome is that?!!

here is what i picked - they are called Nike free +3 (colour is jade):

so far... 2 clinic runs complete, 8 more to go!

    1. Thanks Rick!! I'm having fun (never thought I'd say that about running!)

I ordered my shoes today and they don't have jade so i'm getting the blue and orange instead... they are definitely BRIGHT!!! :)
